I've started having panic attacks. At the dentist office. The first visit or so went fine, but he has this flat chair that lowers your head at an incline where your feet are higher than your head. This causes all kinds of problems with breathing and claustrophobia, let alone getting your teeth drilled or pulled (I need to have my wisdom teeth out - I have had them all these years, BUT they are starting to cause trouble, and I cannot tear a celery stalk into!). So down the road and to the dentist I go. About the second visit I started getting chills and hot flashes all at once. I turned pale and they had to take my pulse cause they thought I was gonna pass out. They always talk me down out of it, and eventually I get used to it (and of course the dental work is never pleasant but that's NOT THE PROBLEM). It's the claustrophobic inclination with your head lower than your feet. (I keep thinking this is how the Nazis tortured people). But my dentist is very sweet and my teeth look great, and he tricks me by lowering me a bit at a time into that inclined position, and before you know it I'm this helpless person doing everything they say instead of this crazy person threatening to leave.

So panic attacks are a new thing for me and to be added to the evergrowing aging thing. I can't picture Chrissie Hynde having a panic attack.
